AMC will “access” bubble dramas Turn and Halt and Catch Fire before making an official cancel/renew decision.
Revolutionary war drama Turn recently wrapped its second season, while computer drama Halt and Catch Fire is in the midst of its sophomore chapter.
In a fresh update on the status of the period dramas, the cabler’s CEO Josh Sapan acknowledged that both shows have a fanbase but noted their struggles to break out in the ratings.
As such, the network is taking a cautious approach before deciding their fate, per Variety:
“We have to assess both [shows] as we look at what the full impact is.”
On Halt specifically, Sapan believes show has benefited in Season 2 from giving more focus to actresses Mackenzie Davis and Kerry Bishé, but would like the ratings to be stronger:
“We think the show is good. It’s better and more energetic. The reviews have been extremely good. We’d like the number to be higher on ‘Halt.’”
As for Turn, Sapan noted the “enthusiastic reception” for the show, but again wishes ratings were higher.
