ABC has stopped the clock on the conspiracy thriller after just three, albeit low-rated, episodes.
Deadline reports that encores of Shark Tank will replace it on the schedule for the next two weeks, before seven non-celebrity episodes of Wife Swap run in the slot ahead of Wipeout which takes over on May 9. Jokes could be made with all three of those, but this isn’t the appropriate time.
Time’s up – Zero Hour Cancelled
It hasn’t been pretty for Zero Hour. Character development was rarely in evidence as was any form of pacing or subtlety, to the point where I wondered whether the real conspiracy was the kill this show from within.
A victim perhaps of network television setting serial up to fail or a story that needed more time than it ever had to find its way?
The fact is not every serial works and creatively the show was one of the weakest new seriables of the season — all three episodes felt like pilots and didn’t do enough to convince me that it had legs. I’m not surprised in the slightest to see it go, but it’s a shame that fans wont even get to know how it ends. Can more responsibility be taken in that regard?
It seemed like Zero Hour at the very least had some form of resolution planned for the end of its first season, but those invested in the fates of Leila and the clocks will be left hanging.
Never ‘happy’ to see a seriable get cancelled, but unfortunately this one never really got off the ground. ABC’s seriable record this season doesn’t make for pretty reading: Last Resort, 666, Zero Hour – all terminated
Thanks Rick and Sam for the heads-up.
