On Tuesday, the world got its first crystal-clear look at, not one, but two official trailers for AMC’s zombie apocalypse series, The Walking Dead.
To say that we’re excited is to say that zombies are hungry. It’s a no-brainer. The show has had the best promotional campaign of any this summer – it hasn’t been all in your face (possibly because it doesn’t premiere until October), but it’s been deadly, and has many doing the zombie walk in anticipation. No doubt some of the positivity surrounding the show stems from the source material.
In a recent visit to the Walking Dead set, MTV spoke to creator of the original graphic novel and Executive Producer, Robert Kirkman to see how the series will compare to the book.
“It’s fun going back and writing the thing, because I don’t remember very much from the early issues of the comic,” Kirkman told MTV News.
“The story in the comic moves so much, a lot of the characters die, and it’s a frequent death rate in the book,” he said. “So I’m getting to write characters that I haven’t even really thought about for a long time, because they’ve been out of the book for a while.”
Kirman reiterated that certain elements of the show would take some different turns from his graphic novel, and expressed delight at being able to get a second bite his earlier work.
“It’s kind of like going back home again and getting a second pass at earlier stuff,” he said. “It’s a lot of fun.”
The Walking Dead premieres Halloween Night, October 31st, on AMC. The premiere will be a bumper 90 minutes.
