The Internet was sent all aflutter earlier this week with rumors that Twin Peaks could be set to return to our screens with a third season. However, co-creator Mark Frost has moved to pour cold water on said rumors, saying:
“Dear Internet: You are very good at spreading rumors. Truth is more valuable and much harder to come by. Sincerely yours, Mark Frost”

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted — although it might be an imaginary bullet dodged given that NBC were the network said to be involved. Twin Peaks in truth would be better served where serial is better serviced. I mean, the Peacock has only recently cancelled one of the most Twin Peaks-esque shows of recent times in Awake, so it was always a stretch to think Frost and David Lynch would take it there — though stranger things have happened.
Who knows what the future holds for Twin Peaks? Recent comments from members of the creative team seem to leave the lodge door open. I’d certainly like to see the story continue under the right circumstances, but if those conditions are not in place then it’s best left in seriable heaven where we can enjoy it, continuously.
We’ll keep you updated should there be any more developments to this story.
Thanks to all who sent in the heads-up.
