Ahead of tonight’s special airing of Touch, FOX has rolled out a bunch of preview videos, including interviews with cast members Kiefer Sutherland, David Mazouz, Danny Glover, Gugu Mbatha-Raw; series creator Tim Kring and EP/director Francis Lawrence; and a behind-the-scenes look at the pilot.

MARTIN BOHM (Kiefer Sutherland), is a widower and single father who is haunted by an inability to connect to his emotionally challenged 11-year-old son JAKE (David Mazouz). But when Martin discovers that Jake can predict events before they happen, everything changes. Martin meets social worker CLEA HOPKINS (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Professor Arthur Teller (guest star Danny Glover) who may have the keys to help unlock Jake’s mind

It’s interesting to find out more about Arthur and Clea (Glover and Mbatha-Raw). I’m intrigued by their backstories, particularly Arthur who himself has experienced a ‘tiny’ bit of what special kids like Jake are able to experience. His expertise will no doubt be of great use to Martin as he tries to follow the roadmap, but from a character perspective it helps that he has his own story within that.

The thing that we’ve known but becomes clearer in the above videos, is Jake’s role in changing (or course-correcting) the future. I have some questions about that in relation to cause and effect and predestination, but it’s certainly interesting.

Touch remains one of our most anticipated shows of 2012, even though it’s going lite on the serialization, as it has potential. Hopefully there will be signs of seriable-intent, as a concept like this seems wasted on ‘Mr. Standalone and the Procedurals’.

Previews Wednesday, Jan. 25 (9:00-10:07 PM ET/PT) on FOX
