Actress Lenora Crichlow, who stars as Annie in the BBC‘s Being Human, has revealed her new-found fandom for HBO‘s The Wire.
Crichlow told the Metro about her fondness for the “authentic” serialized classic:
I’ve been watching the box set of The Wire and I have to say that it blew my brains out in terms of being fantastic. I would love to be in a drama like that – or my other two choices – cast me! But in terms of The Wire, that’s a bit of a pipe dream. Everybody in it seems to have a sense of authenticity. That’s what makes it so incredible.
The Wire has been off our screens for a few years now, but the serialized narrative has gained the series a lot of additional fans in this time. As for a comeback? The last we heard, creator David Simon made a tongue-in-cheek promise to go to work on season 6 — with a condition:
The Attorney-General’s kind remarks are noted and appreciated. I’ve spoken to Ed Burns and we are prepared to go to work on season six ofThe Wire if the Department of Justice is equally ready to reconsider and address its continuing prosecution of our misguided, destructive and dehumanising drug prohibition.
