The Walking Dead will not so much lurch as hurtle onto the small screen this fall – that’s if the positive buzz and goodwill surrounding the show has anything to do with it. As I’ve said many times before, I’m eagerly anticipating this show – and I’m not all that crazy about zombies. I mean, sure, they’re cool and all, but I can live without ever seeing another zombie flick. But this production has a certain boldness about it that appeals to me.
MTV were lucky enough to visit the Walking Dead set to find out more about what the show has in store for us when it finally arrives.
Set video and minor spoilers below the jump.
Some thoughts from the video:
- Exec. Producer Frank Darabont plans to follow the Robert Kirkman narrative fairly closely, but the story will go off on its own interesting tangents at various points. This is a good idea as it should keep the story fresh enough for those who are fans of the original comics, while also attempting to better adapt the story to the television medium.
- What I also got from the video was a better sense of the scale and quality of the production – it’s gonna look fantastic, as this (albeit photoshopped) cast photo suggests.
- The authenticity of the zombies also look set to be a stand-out feature of Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead comes to AMC this October.
