The Returned Season 3 could become a reality, series creator Fabrice Gobert has confirmed
Season 2 airs Oct. 31 on SundanceTV, but Gobert hasn’t ruled out a third season of the French supernatural drama, despite the second season resolving a number of storylines, per Digital Spy:
“I think there can be a third. But Season 2 is really constructed as a mirror to season one. There are a lot of questions, a lot of mysteries, a lot of stories that began in season one, and those had to be completed in Season 2.
So we can imagine easily Season 2, but I think it would be different from the two first chapters.”
Gobert had envisioned the final frame of the series, which will feature in the Season 2 finale. However, with plans for a third season, the ending to Season 2 has now changed:
I had it [in my head] when I wrote season one. I used this image in season two, in episode eight, but it was not the final one.
“When you imagine the beginning of a story, I think for the spectators, you have to have the end [planned out] – but you can also change.”
Actress Jenna Thiam also hinted at a third season, but says Season 2 will leave fans satisfied:
“We haven’t seen the last episode,” Thiam added. “We know what happens, but there are many ways to shoot an ending. What we can say is that almost all of the answers are given out in the end.”
