The Fall could continue into Season 4 without Jamie Dornan, according to reports.
While the serial-killer drama’s third season renewal was promoted as the “final act” in the game of cat and mouse between Dornan’s Paul Spector and Gillian Anderson‘s Stella Gibson, Season 3 wont necessarily be the last chapter in the story.
According to a TV Wise source, “the reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated”, noting that in a bid to “placate some of the critics, everyone wanted to make it clear that this would be the final season to feature Jamie Dornan as Paul Spector. That, however, doesn’t preclude a fourth season without the character.”
While an end date hasn’t been set at this time, writer Allan Cubitt and Anderson are already looking to a possible fourth season, with ideas of how to “continue the story of Stella Gibson” beyond the Paul Spector storyline beginning the swirl.
Another source notes that while continuing the story without one half of its central relationship “might be a tough sell,” they’ve “not had a formal decision from high atop the cliff…stating that [Season 3] is it”.
Could Colin Morgan‘s Detective Sergeant Tom Anderson assume the role of chief antagonist that potential fourth season, or will a completely new character take on the mantle?
Stay tuned as The Fall re-enters the renewal rat race…
