With Smallville ending its 10 year reign earlier this year, the CW are looking for a new superhero franchise based on a DC property. Enter Deadman.
This development season the network will take a shot at raising Deadman, a drama based on the DC Comics books by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino, which will be written and executive produced by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.
Deadman is about the spirit of a murdered man, Boston Brand, who lives on as he inhabits the bodies of other people and helps them solve issues in their own lives.

Deadman has an overarching story that I think could work well for the CW/Kripke. Brand’s quest to find the man who killed him could give audiences a reason to invest in the character and hence the show. There’s also a case-of-the-week aspect with the body-hopping that will presumably inform the ongoing story. One comparison that springs mind is Quantum Leap.
Deadman could be interesting, particularly if the overarching story is done right. It’s only in development at this stage, but we’ll keep tabs on the project and let you know when we hear anything interesting.
