Syfy plan to bring DC Comics’ character Booster Gold to the small screen.

The cable network has ordered a pilot for the 1-hour drama based on the DC Comics franchise.

The project hails from Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television. Former Fringe producer and writer Andrew Kreisberg (“Midnight”, “Unearthed”) will pen the script and executive produce with Berlanti.

The story will center on Booster Gold, a glory-seeking show-off from the future who uses knowledge of historical events and futuristic technology to stage high-publicity heroics. Through personal tragedies, Booster becomes a true hero weighed down by the reputation he has created for himself.

There’s seriable potential in there. I can see interesting arcs based around the character’s ‘hard path’ transition from a glory-hunter to a ‘true hero’. We’ll keep you updated on the development and seriability of Booster Gold.

This character was great on Smallville! I am looking forward to this! I wonder if the actor from Smallvile will be reprising the role? He was great!

He’s not my favorite superhero, but it could be interesting.
