John Noble has further teased the arc of his mysterious Sleepy Hollow character Henry Parrish.
I thank [co-creators] Alex [Kurtzman] and Roberto [Orci] for this, but he’s another one of these really complex, multi-layered characters. When I did [Fringe‘s] Walter Bishop, the great joy of him was the layers that he had. It gave me so much room to play with the psychological levels of the character, and Henry offers me the same. From what I’ve been told by the writers, that’s what we’ll see, as time goes by. That makes going to work a joy.
Noble doesn’t believe Parrish shares the same “extreme range” as his popular Fringe character, but identifies the deeply emotional and mental parallels that the two characters have in common – which he believes will come as quite a shock to Parrish’s new-found Witness chums and viewers alike:
What I do see is the depth and the secrets and the psychological twists that I find very appealing about this character. He’s a mysterious man, and we will reveal these mysteries. As time goes by, those revelations will be quite a shock to the other characters and to the audience. That’s great fun to play. But, he’s not a crazy like Walter was.
Noble further confirmed that his 4-episode first season arc extends in the already-renewed second season, adding that viewers can expect to see “quite a lot” of the Sin Eater next season.
