Serialized Ratings: Dexter Kills ‘Em, Fringe Drops, Lone Star Nearly Dies

Serialized Ratings is our weekly look back at the Nielsen ratings for your favorite serialized TV shows.

As you would expect, Week 3 was a mixed bag for our favorite serialized shows – some gained record-breaking numbers, a couple suffered, and others remained fairly even. But they are all still breathing and here with us!

Supernatural did well on Friday night, scoring a 1.3 in the 18-49 demo:

– 2.895 million viewers
– 1.7/3 HH
– 1.3/4 A18-49
– 1.4/5 A18-34
– 1.3/5 W18-34

Smallville also performed well, beating Modern Family and Human Target (albeit reruns), scoring 1.3 in the key 18-49 demographic:

– 2.980 million viewers
– 1.8/3 HH
– 1.3/5 A18-49
– 1.3/5 A18-34
– 1.0/4 W18-34

Super Friday night for The CW.

Strategy of pairing Smallville/Supernatural again on the night paid off.

The premiere of Smallville’s final season won its time period in adults 18-34 (1.2/5), men 18-34 (1.5/6), men 18-49 (1.4/6).  Smallville beat ABC and FOX in adults 18-49 (1.3/5).

Smallville delivered The CW’s best performance in the Friday 8-9pm time period in 2 years in total viewers (2.9mil) and adults 18-49 (1.3/5).

The debut of Supernatural scored The CW’s best performance in the time period in 2 years in all key categories, including adults 18-34 (1.3/5), adults 18-49 (1.2/4), men 18-34 (1.5/6), men 18-49 (1.3/5) and viewers (2.8mil).

Supernatural won the 9-10pm hour in men 18-34 (1.5/6) and beat ABC and FOX in adults 18-49 (1.2/4), men 18-34 (1.5/6), men 18-49 (1.3/5).

The CW was #1 on Friday night among adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49 (1.4/5).

This was the CW’s best Friday in total viewers (2.85mil), adults 18-34 (1.3/5), and men 18-34 (1.5/6) in two years (since 9/26/08, the final Smackdown).  It was our best performance in adults 18-49 (1.2/4) and men 18-49 (1.4/5) since the two-hour SMALLVILLE “Absolute Justice” episode in February 2010.

The Vampire Diaries was up on the previous week, while Nikita was flat in total viewers:

Vampire Diaries was up from last week in key categories, including 12% in adults 18-34 (1.9/6), 8% in women 18-34 (2.6/8), 14% in adults 18-49 (1.6/5) and 20% in viewers (3.6mil).  Vampire popped back up to premiere levels in adults 18-34 and 18-49.

Vampire Diaries ranked first in the hour in female teens.  TVD also beat the premiere of My Generation(if that means anything) in adults 18-34 and women 18-34.

Nikita was flat week to week in total viewers (3.2mil) but off a 0.1 in demos.

Fringe was down 30% from last season’s premiere with 2.1 adults 18-49 rating

The Event premiered strong with 11.19 viewers and a 3.7 in the 18-49 demo. While the Chuck season opener received 6.06 million viewers and a 2.1 in the 18-49 demo.

Lone Star had the worst week, slamming together only 4.06 million viewers and a 1.3 adults rating. Breathing..but barely.
