Today’s Serialized Bites brings news of The Walking Dead at FrightFest and a “special featurette”. We also find out which LOST character Michael Emerson would like to have seen explored in the final season. And there’s speculation on how long Matt Smith will occupy the Tardis in Doctor Who.

Plus, we have more from the worlds of LOST, Who, Heroes and Fringe!

The Walking Dead will be at FrightFest on Monday, August 30:

At 3.30pm, at London’s Empire Cinema, Andrew Lincoln (who plays Rick Grimes of course) will introduce in person a special ten minute ‘featurette’. This has been specially put together for the festival and will include our trailer, filmed interviews with the cast and perhaps most exciting of all the first scene from episode one of ‘The Walking Dead’. This will be one of the first times anyone in the world will have seen anything from the show.  We are really excited to be able to show this so early.

For those of you not in the know FRIGHTFEST is the UK’s premiere fantasy and horror film festival. Now in itseleventh year, each August thousands of genre fans gather together in the heart of London’s West End at the prodigious Empire Cinema for five packed days of premieres, previews, personal appearances, signings and surprises. It’s a really fantastic event but this, though, has to be the highlight of the weekend (if we do say so ourselves!).

Michael Emerson wishes LOST had addressed Ben’s relationship with Annie:

THE DEADBOLT: Was there anything you wished Ben could’ve done before the series wrapped?

EMERSON: I’m completely satisfied with Ben’s adventure. Of course, there are always the “paths not followed”, which are tantalizing. It would have been interesting to explore the relationship between Ben and Annie.

Lance Reddick reveals that he’s not a fan of the Fringe procedural experiment:

“The show changed gears and that was very deliberate. Because, honestly, the procedural element of it wasn’t working. You know, I don’t know whose idea it was, how much it was FOX, Warner or JJ. Procedurals, from what I understand, tend to do better in syndication. But in terms of JJ. Abrams’ plan and what he’s great at, it’s telling a serialized story.

So they were trying to have the kick they needed to do that and do the procedural. But the procedural was too clunky. Those two episodes — episode 10, when Olivia is kidnapped and her escape in episode 11 — they treated almost like a new pilot and decided ‘look, this is what we’re good at. Let’s just go for it.”

Will Matt Smith‘s stint as the Doctor last until 2013?:

Matt Smith will continue to star in Doctor Whountil the show’s 50th anniversary in 2013, according to reports.

The Daily Express claims that BBC bosses are keen to hold on to the actor for as long as possible.

A source allegedly said: “The current team believe that Matt is the person to continue taking the show forward over the next few years and want to avoid the prospect of fans having to get used to yet another actor in the role in the near future.”

Greg Grunberg wants a Heroes movie:

“I think there has to be [a movie],” he said. “But I also predicted they wouldn’t just out and out cancel it, so what do I know?”

He continued: “It makes business sense to do something – there’s a huge fanbase that wants some sort of conclusion and I think the actors want to do it.

“It’s not about making a fortune to come back – we all appreciate the fans so much, I think if the call went out, we’d all be on board.”

Matthew Fox offers his interpretation of the LOST flash-sideways:

“There are certain religious beliefs, spiritual ideas, that when you die, you have to remember your own death in the moment of your death, you have to remember all the people that brought you to that, all the people that were most important to you, bringing you to that moment. And essentially that’s what the entire Sideways was, I believe, in the sixth season. The moment that Jack was dying he was being reunited with all the people that had brought him to his death so he could move on to whatever was next. I thought it was pretty beautiful. Very spiritual. I’m not necessarily a religious person.
