Serial AM delivers breakfast-sized serialized TV news and tidbits. This morning, we have digestible spoonfuls of Ringer, The River, The Walking Dead, Touch, Spartacus: Vengeance, Cult and The Americans.

1. Ringer

Breaking Bad‘s Jonathan Banks will guest star on the CW’s Ringer in a potentially recurring role, starting April. Banks will play Tobias, a “weathered, sarcastic, confident” gentleman who is accused of running an illegal operation. He has a dangerous side and will bump heads with Agent Machado. [Zap2It]

2. The River

Oren Peli discusses his new paranormal thriller in this recent CTV Q&A [via]:

3. The Walking Dead

Steven Yeun (Glenn) talks to Culture Mob about the evolution of his character on The Walking Dead:

Glenn is a constantly evolving character. He starts from a neutral place with a good set of morals. When you first meet him, he’s still a kid. He hasn’t been jaded yet. He’s excited at the prospect of being able to live… a kind of new existence. He’d rather it not be the Zombie Apocalypse, but if it’s going to be that gig then he sees himself as an opportunity to assert himself and step up to the plate. His character has an arc and an evolution as he grows… he’s effected by what is actually going on, he’s effected by other people, and realizing that he isn’t just some kid that isn’t worth anything, but that he actually has a lot of value. He could very well be the leader.

Okay, without giving anything away I think the general arc you see Glenn heading towards is just growing up, and realizing the situations does not call for, even if he is someone  younger, it really doesn’t matter because he really is contributing and starting to realize that every move he makes is effective and affective. He really needs to make it his own… and I think that’s where we will be going towards.

4. Touch

The Shield alum Catherine Dent will recur on FOX freshman drama Touch. She will play the sister-in-law of Kiefer Sutherland’s widowed character — and they don’t necessarily have a smooth relationship. [TV Line]

Jon Cassar (24, Terra Nova) will direct an episode of Touch [THR].

5. Spartacus: Vengeance

Lucy Lawless talks Lucretia with Crave Online:

Lucretia looks crazy. Is she a little crazy this year?

Lucy Lawless: Well, you would be crazy, wouldn’t you? Your unborn child has been unceremoniously stabbed within yourself. You’ve lost your husband, you’ve lost everything, so she may or may not be crazy. I’m going to let you decide.

Do you get to play that the whole year?

Lucy Lawless: No, because that would be very tiresome very quickly. Somebody’s crazy, that’s interesting for about three seconds, but you quickly want to get back to the characters you know and love. That took a bit of doing actually, figuring that out. I found that extremely challenging.

6. Cult

Supernatural alum Alona Tal has joined the CW’s mystery pilot, Cult. She’ll play an actress, who plays a cop, who’s character is dragged into a real-life investigation when someone starts recreating the drama’s fictional crimes. [TV Line]

7. The Americans

The Warrior director Gavin O’Connor has been tapped to direct FX’s Cold War period drama pilot The Americans. Created/executive produced by Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies) and executive produced by Justified showrunner Graham Yost, the project follows two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington, DC in the early 1980s.
