The JJ. Abrams and Eric Kripke NBC pilot Revolution continues to intrigue with news that Breaking Bad‘s Giancarlo Esposito has been tapped for a lead role.
The high-octane action drama centers on a group of people struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology — computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights — has mysteriously ceased to exist. Esposito will play Capt. Neville, a hard-as-steel military man with a genteel southern manner who may not always be what he seems. Jon Favreau will direct the pilot.
It’s great to see Esposito in a leading role on a project as intriguing as Revolution. While details on the project are under tight wraps, on the face of it the project seems to be off to a fairly auspicious start. Fingers crossed it all comes together.
Esposito continues to recur on ABC’s Once Upon A Time following his absorbing run on AMC’s Breaking Bad.
