ABC has yet to Cancel/Renew Resurrection for Season 3. Stay tuned to this page for continued updates on the cancel/renew status of ABC’s mystery serial as it bids for a third season return.
Resurrection bosses say they know how the show ends, though a series end date has yet to be established going into Season 2. Unless the end game is brought forward at the conclusion of Season 2 (Update: it ends on a cliffhanger), the show’s heavily serialized narrative would require a third season. Resurrection Season 3 or cancelled? Watch the timeline unfold below…
Resurrection is produced by ABC Studios.
RESURRECTION CANCELLED OR RENEWED FOR SEASON 3 UPDATES
May 7, 2015 – ABC axes Resurrection after two seasons.
January 25, 2015 – Resurrection ends it first season with a cliffhanger setting up a potential third season.
January 19, 2015 – Resurrection hits a new series low 0.7 rating in the penultimate episode of Season 2 (adjusted up to 0.8), in what appears to be the final death knell in the show’s Season 3 hopes.
December 6 – Omar Epps confirms that he’s uncertain whether or not Resurrection will be renewed for Season 3, but has “hope” that it will.
October 24 – ABC decides not to expand Resurrection Season 2 from 13 to 14 episodes at the last minute. Probably best from a story perspective, but with a host of the network’s best performers receiving expanded orders, it casts a slight shadow over Resurrection‘s Season 3 ambitions.
September 28 – Resurrection returns with a 2.5 key demo rating, above last season’s finale (2.1), placing it in the safe zone, despite being some way down on its series premiere (3.8).
RESURRECTION returns with a modest 2.2 A18-49 rating and 7.6M viewers. On par with finale but well below series premiere (3.8)
