Melissa Rosenberg will adapt Endemol’s Dutch Breaking Bad-esque drama Penoza.
Penoza is the story of an assassinated criminal’s widow who is forced to take over her late husband’s role in a bid to keep her family from harm.
Former Dexter veteran and Twilight scribe Rosenberg will pen the pilot and serve as the showrunner and executive producer alongside The Naked Truth‘s Alon Aranya and Howard Klein.
Rosenberg also has Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones in consideration for next fall with ABC and murder-mystery drama Afterthought in development at NBC.
Penoza sounds very interesting. If we’re looking for seriable comparisons it seems to be something of a female-led Breaking Bad or Sopranos. We’ll keep you posted as we find out more.
