REVOLUTION Energizes With LOST & V Alum Elizabeth Mitchell

Well, serve me a burnt muffin, NBC’s Revolution has only gone and cast former LOSTie Elizabeth Mitchell.

Mitchell has been cast in the upcoming NBC thriller as “Rachel Matheson”, the mother of Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) and Danny (Graham Rogers), TV Guide has learned.

Revolution follows a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously stopped working.

Mitchell is basically replacing Andrea Roth, who departed the show after the producers decided to retool her character. According to TV Guide, Mitchell’s Rachel will appear on the series in flashbacks, whereas Roth appeared in present day.

This seems like a fairly significant retooling of the role if not the character. At the very least it suggests flashbacks will indeed play an integral role in the story. It also highlights just how young Tracy Spiridakos character — our potential protagonist — is supposed to be.

This is a very interesting piece of casting and it’s good to see Mitchell return to the Bad Robot family.

Mitchell is best known in Seriabledom for her portrayal of the muffin-burning ‘Other’ Juliet Burke on LOST and Erica Evans on the V reboot.

Mitchell isn’t the only new Revolution arrival, Daniella Alonso joins the series as Nora, a rebel fighter who has a history with Miles, Billy Burke’s character.

Revolution hits the switch September 17 on NBC.
