LOST Showrunner Damon Lindelof To Summon The Rapture With HBO’s THE LEFTOVERS

Damon Lindelof will delve into the Rapture in his first TV series role since LOST.

Following his shiny 3-year deal with WBTV, LOST showrunner/executive producer’s first post-LOST TV project sees him head to HBO for The Leftovers, a drama based on Tom Perrotta’s 2011 book, Deadline reports.

The Seriable Potential?

The Leftovers takes place after the Rapture happens but not quite like it’s supposed to. It follows the people who didn’t make the grade..and a world that will never be the same.

I haven’t read the book, but it sounds like the series will explore intertwining ‘realities’, if you will, something Lindelof has plenty of past experience weaving together on the screen.

Lindelof and Perrotta will co-write the script and executive produce the project, currently in development, with Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger. If project moves ahead, Lindelof will serve as the showrunner. The project is produced by HBO in association with WBTV.

Lindelof recently claimed he’d avoid what he called “wackadoo mythology” in his future TV pursuits, so The Leftovers probably wont become as complex as LOST. We’ll see how this one shapes up.
