- Henry’s one line in the episode is not a lie: “They’ll never give you Walt”. Instead of Walt, Jack and Kate get Michael, who will eventually get Walt… In return for Henry, Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley. As we say in Holland: Trading ends in tears.
Sawyer: “It’s called a long con. It works by getting someone to ask you to do something like it’s their idea, but it’s not their idea, it’s your idea.” (The Long Con)
- Going by Sawyer’s description, Henry Gale was doing a long con on the survivors. He mentioned the idea to trade him for Jack’s friends during his speech back in The Whole Truth. Now Jack believes the plan to trade Henry for Walt is actually his own.
Jack: “Henry. I was thinking about something you were saying before we found out who you are. Yeah, you were saying that if you were one of them that you’d lead us into a trap, capture our people, force a trade — us for you. Pretty good idea, Henry. And, since you are one of them, I thought now might be a good time to use it.” (S.O.S.)
