
Whether Legends Of Alcatraz spins into a fully-fledged alternate reality game (ARG) remains to be seen, but for now let’s see where the mystery takes us. We have the first clue and answer for the show’s online tie-in experience.

When you visit LegendsofAlcatraz.com, you’ll be met with the following screen informing you of the crafty ways that Alcatraz prisoners used to communicate with one another during the Alcatraz Spaghetti Riot of 1950. You’ll be invited to break the code to progress to the next screen:
As you can see from the above screen capture, there are five missing letters — CMXIV. These make up the roman numerals for the number 914, which is the code needed get to the next screen. Simple, once you know what to look for.
The next screen contains the following message:
Which teases “IT” beginning at 9:14 on Jan 27, 28 and 29, 2012, along with some coordinates: N37 49.6062 W122 25.3793907. Thanks to the magic of Google Maps these coordinates lead us to..

..Alcatraz island, specifically the prison, and perhaps a location within the prison itself?
There’s also the @AlcatrazLegends twitter handle that might be worth keeping an eye on for updates and such. We’ll keep you posted on any interesting developments.
