Joshua Jackson has revealed that the third season of Fringe is set to be the most “bizarre” yet.
Fringe. Bizarre? Surely not!
Mild spoilers follow the jump.
Speaking to E! Online, the actor who plays Peter Bishop on the hit FOX TV series, confessed that the show will pick up from where it left off last season but will also crank up the bizarre.
“It picks up literally where it left off last year,” he said. “And our show just continues to get greater and more bizarre and strange and disgusting and wonderful every time they put it on the air.”
The third season of Fringe will adopt an intriguing story structure for the first half of the season, with the episodes alternating between the alternate universe “Over There” and “Over Here”. Because there is no Peter in the alternate universe, this means that Jackson wont appear in those episodes. But Jackson is cool with that.
“I mean, from a pure actor-y standpoint, yeah, [I'm disappointed],” he said. “I think everybody’s having a lot of fun playing this alternate version of themselves. [But it means that] I get a lot more time off, which between you and me is not a bad thing.
“But also… I get to watch the episodes that I’m not in. Like, I’m not in the first episode of the year so I can actually watch the premiere of my show as an audience member… When you’re watching yourself on camera, I don’t know anybody who’s well-adjusted enough to not pick apart what they’re doing. This way I get to go back to just being an audience member of Fringe.”
Fringe returns for its third season, September 23rd, on FOX.
