As speculated last week, FOX has landed Locke & Key and is giving it a direct-to-series order. The spooky Joe Hill comic book series will be adapted to the small screen by Steven Spielberg, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Josh Friedman.
Locke & Key focuses on the dysfunctional Locke children, who move to Lovecraft, Mass, after their father is murdered by a deranged high school student. The children keep watch over a mansion with transformative doors that open to different dimensions.
The project is produced by Dreamworks TV and K.O. Paper Products through the latter’s deal with 20th Century Fox TV. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will executive produce, along with Heather Kadin, Josh Friedman, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Ted Adams.

Kurtzman and Orci are also launching Hawaii-Five-O on CBS and are consulting producers on Fox’s Fringe.
Locke & Key joins AMC’s The Walking Dead and Fox’s other new project Terra Nova as recent shows to receive the direct-to-air treatment.
