Helix executive producer Steven Maeda is quietly confident on the show getting picked up for a second season, Seriable has learned.
While Syfy has yet to renew the outbreak serial for Season 2, the first season finale is being locked this week and Maeda admits to being “cautiously optimistic” about the chances of the show continuing into a second year:
You know what? We’re locked into our finale. We don’t have the luxury [of changing it based on whether the show is renewed or not]. So we are cautiously optimistic on a Season 2 pickup and 13 is going to lock today, so we’re crossing our fingers and toes.
I think we’re doing very well. We have a very dedicated fan base I think after airing the first six – or the first five airings, and so far the response has been terrific. We’re very proud of the show and very happy that the response has been so good.
