HBO ordered a sixth season of True Blood and a second season of The Newsroom.
The True Blood renewal comes less than a month after the fifth season premiere, while second season pickup of Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom comes just over a week after the series launched.
While The Newsroom‘s 2.1 million debut ratings on June 24 are less than half what the Alan Ball vampire series earned on the same night, HBO see a series that can grow over time.
