Fox has found a director and lead actor for their upcoming spookerific series, Locke & Key.
Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) will direct the pilot, based on Joe Hill‘s comic series, while actress Miranda Otto (The Lord of The Rings) will play Nina Locke.
It was only last month that Fox gave the direct-to-series project a pilot-order, and with a director and lead now in place it looks like things are beginning to take shape.
I’ll need to dive into the comics to get a better sense of what the series might entail, but it will be interesting to see how Fox develop and market Locke & Key. Whatever you think about their handling of Fringe, they’re not shying away from the small screen mystery and mythology are they? Good thing/bad thing? The jury is still out, but it’s good that shows of this type ARE still being given a chance on the major networks.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will executive produce, along with Heather Kadin, Josh Friedman, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Ted Adams. Romanek will direct the pilot based on a script written by Josh Friedman.
Locke & Key focuses on the dysfunctional Locke children, who move to Lovecraft, Mass, after their father is murdered by a deranged high school student. The children keep watch over a mansion with transformative doors that open to different dimensions.
