Michael C. Hall had shed light on the upcoming eighth season of Dexter and in particular the arrival of a pivotal new character.
In an interview with Awards Circuit, Hall provides new insight into the arrival of a “maternal” figure and the impact she has on Dex. While he doesn’t name names, we believe he’s referring to Charlotte Rampling‘s character. Here’s what Hall revealed:
“The appetite that Dexter has for connections is probably not going to be as satisfied in his relationship with his sister, and is going to be exploited by a new character with whom Dexter experiences a dynamic that he hasn’t had up to this point, an older female.
He continues:
“There’s never really been a real-time exploration of Dexter’s birth mother and how she was killed in front of him. he’s never had a real-time flesh and blood somewhat maternal figure with whom to interact, and a character like that will [be a part of this season].
As we previously reported, Rampling will recur as Dr. Evelyn Vogel, a neuro-psychiatrist who specializes in working with young psychopaths and profiling criminals in unconventional ways.
Which might suggest she has significant involvement with Harrison as well as Dexter himself. This pieces are certainly beginning to form ahead of the June 30 premiere.
