Dallas Season 4 will pick up following a big time-jump and take Sue Ellen in a “completely different direction,” executive producer Cynthia Cidre has revealed.
Ahead of the drama’s August 18 midseason return, Cidre spoke confidently about where the show is going in the rest of Season 3 and beyond into Season 4.
While Dallas has yet to be officially renewed for Season 4 by TNT, renewal is anticipated and Cidre has big plans for Sue Ellen and the series as a whole, as she revealed to EW:
“The [midseason premiere] is basically the hospital where Sue Ellen is taken for smoke inhalation and Pamela’s there because of the overdose, so it’s sort of a hospital episode. It’s really good. Episode 9, 10, 11, they got better because all of our stories start to come together and climax.”
Teasing the remainder of Season 3 and Sue Ellen’s Season 4 trajectory, she continued:
“And the rest of [Season 3] is pretty compressed. There’s some physical danger for Emma and Ann and then John Ross, so she’s involved in that because of course as a family, she’s quite worried about it and all of that, and then come season four, we’re going to take her in a completely different direction vis-a-vis her addictive personality.”
Cidre says the fire-ravaged Southfork will be rebuilt in time for Season 4, which picks up six months after the Season 3 cliffhanger:
“For season 4, we are going to jump ahead six months. And then the house will be rebuilt. And we’re hoping to even add a wing to it somehow in CGI. We’re going to explore that because it’s just pretty hilarious that there’s 5 billionaires living in a three bedroom house.”
