November 10 – Patrick Duffy says the negotiations to find a new home for Dallas have entered a “pivotal” period.
October 15 – Warner Bros shopping Dallas to other cable networks.
October 3 – TNT cancels Dallas.
September 15 – Cidre further teases “emotional” Season 4 plans, reveals contingency plan in case TNT cancels the show.
September 23 – Cidre positive on Season 4 renewal chances as Dallas ends its third season on a cliffhanger; reveals 60-page story bible mapping out entire fourth season.
September 22 – Ahead of the Season 3 finale, Josh Henderson warns that not everyone will live to see a potential fourth season. Dallas yet to be officially renewed for Season 4.
September 17 – TNT bills the two hour Sept. 22 finale as a “season” not “series” ender. Not always an indication of a show’s continuation, but something to consider.

July 18 – Dallas misses out on early renewal as TNT renews two of its summer dramas – Falling Skies and The Last Ship. Dallas has to wait to learn its fate.
November 18 – Dallas Season 3 will end on a cliffhanger setting up Season 4. Showrunner Cynthia Cidre told TVGuide that the split third season “will have two season openers and two cliffhangers.”
November 18 – TNT announces that Dallas Season 3 will be split in two – likely a strategic move to recoup the drama’s Season 1 numbers. The ‘split season’ approach is also an attempt to replicate AMC’s success with splitting seasons of Breaking Bad and Mad Men; creating a sense of ‘event’ with a finite number of episodes, which TNT hopes will translate into higher ratings.
