the authenticity of the wardrobe is quite questionable; that causes questioning of the rest of the information of the show. When looking up “The Book of Leaves” all you get is ads for plant sellers!

The bizarre DA Vinci’s Demon’s although total fantasy has me spell bound. May-be because I find Game of Thrones so special, this less than accurate historical portrayal of a made up event in the life of the young Leonardo da Vinci has me on the edge of my seat. I am aware that the writers have taken a period of four years that we know nothing about him as their starting point but they have weaved into the story the mystic story of the hunt for the secret history of the world in the Book of Leaves, some form of ancient mystic writings. This leads them into danger with the authorities, the underground secret world of the Vatican of Pope Sixtus and the wierd contacts with the Turks and the Jewish population of northern Italy.

It is not clear what is going on but some form of mystical ancient Roman belief in the god Mythas who from history was a very odd warrior god worshipped in Europe but coming from Ancient Persia. The rituals were strange and they are very old. We have several alters here in Britian. The guardians of this ancient belief system claim to have super powers and our Da Vinci has the gift of sight into the future, which is probably a metophor for him being able to see how he believes the world will be with tanks and flight and so on. He is drawn into this hunt for the Book of Leaves and the adventure begins.

We are then given to believe that this is all grounded in the time that he was starting out on his early career with that other genius of the day, Lorenzo de Medici, a reluctant but great ruler of Florence. He is Da Vinci,s first powerful patron and he is also the enemy of the Papacy in Rome. This will draw Florence, the Medici and Da Vinci into a web of intrigue and war, but the story uses magic to widen our imaginations, while giving us a glimpse into the depth of the true imagination of this mysterious genius.
