USA Network has cancelled spy drama Covert Affairs after five seasons.
Per THR, the decision not to renew the drama for Season 6 boiled down to business, with the show’s declining live-plus-same-day ratings ultimately sending it to the cancellation graveyard.
Covert Affairs Season 5 ended with a cliffhanger that left the story open-ended.
Cancellation comes despite renewal confidence from co-creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord, who confirmed plans for Season 6 that would have provided the show with “a very different look” and many more stories to tell.
It’s currently unclear whether the powers that be will look to continue Covert Affairs elsewhere, though it seems unlikely.
