Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has extended his deal with Sony TV Pictures, locking him in for the final 2 seasons of the hit AMC serial.
The pact retroactively extends back to November (he’s been working on the show without contract for the past three months) and encompasses Gilligan’s services as executive producer/showrunner on the remaining 16 episodes of Breaking Bad, which is now slated to begin production in late March.
As we reported earlier, the order will be filmed in two batches of eight episodes, with a break of several months between for writers to work on scripts.
The deal also includes a development arm, with Gilligan expected to focus on new projects for Sony after he wraps Breaking Bad.
