ARROW - Katie Cassidy Female Lead In CW Pilot

Supernatural alumna Katie Cassidy has landed the female lead in the CW‘s Arrow pilot.

Cassidy will play Laurel, a young legal clinic attorney who shares a romantic past with Oliver.

Here’s how the casting breakdown describes the character:

Dinah “Laurel” Lance: 28 years old, smart sexy, Laurel is a legal aid attorney determined to use her life as a one-woman war against the 1% following the death of her younger sister Sara. A sister, who as luck would have it, just so happened to have died aboard Oliver’s yacht.

In the comics Dinah “Laurel” Lance has a superhero alter ego, Black Canary.

Arrow is a modern retelling of the story of DC Comics character Green Arrow and stars Stephen Amell as the vigilante superhero who fights crime using an array of skills including archery, martial arts and technology under his secret identity as Oliver Queen, a wealthy playboy and billionaire industrialist-turned-outspoken politician in Star City.

David Ramsey will play John Diggle and Susanna Thompson will portray Moira Queen, the mother of Oliver.
