ARROW: First-Look At ‘Darker, Harder-Edged’ Superhero

The CW promised a gritty Arrow, and it looks as though that’s being realized, if this first-look at Stephen Amell in the official green and black attire is anything to go by.

Arrow is based on the DC character and focuses on former billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Amell) who, after being stuck for five years on a remote island, returns with a mysterious agenda and a lethal set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime. Take a look at Arrow in his official garb below:

This first-look gets a thumbs up from me. Hopefully the edgy tone carries through to the pilot and potential series, along with overarching story for fans of serial.

David Nutter, who also directed the pilot for the Superman-themed series Smallville, is helming Arrow, on creating a “believable world” for the Arrow to play in:

“When I directed the pilot for Smallville, I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero. Arrow is a different show — darker and harder-edged — but it’s the same core idea. We’re creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things. Colleen Atwood’s great work on the Arrow costume reflects that effort.”

Look for the Arrow this pilot season.
