The Season 2 cast of FX‘s American Horror Story is scaring up a treat, with news that Zachary Quinto will return as a series regular.
Following his four-episode guest stint as one of the haunted mansion’s former residents, Quinto has been upped to series regular alongside Jessica Lange, whose return was confirmed by co-creator Ryan Murphy last month.
Additional cast members are expected to be announced at Friday’s PaleyFest 2012.
Earlier this week, Murphy revealed some dirt on the second season of AHS, describing it as “the Jessica Lange show“:
“We have designed the second season of American Horror Story completely around her character. Last year Jessica came in with Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott. This will really be the Jessica Lange show so I’m very excited about it. We are designing this amazing new opposite of the Constance character for her. She and I have spoken about different things. She has a lot of ideas, and has a lot of input into her character. She told me some things she has always wanted to play as an actress. She’s a great collaborator and a great friend.”
Season 2 will take place on the East Coast and will involve a horror institution. The story will be separate from the first season, with Lange, Quinto and other returning cast members in entirely new roles, as per the show’s ‘serial anthology’ format.
Seriable.com hopes the new season will at least incorporate thematic elements from the first season. Come on AHS, you know it makes sense.
