AMERICAN HORROR STORY: New Season 2 Story Clue & Revisiting Constance

The cast of American Horror Story tease the big “Birth” Season 2 clue, along with the possible return of devil baby and revisiting Constance.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s PaleyFest, Poulson told THR that “it is something I said,” in reference to her character Billie Dean, who in the “Birth” episode explained to Violet (Taissa Farmiga) that the house had a paramagnetic grip — like a battery, with negative energy that feeds on trauma and draws things to it; the same type of energy often found in prisons or asylums.

Asked if the Season 2 reference in question points to energy located in such prisons or asylums, Poulson added: “I can’t say the answer to that but I think you’re warm.”

Poulson will join Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe in the second season of AHS, where they’ll all play new characters set at a East Coast institution.

Despite the new deck of characters, the co-creator Ryan Murphy did say that he wants to explore what happened to Constance’s fourth child:

“We know who the fourth child is, it was something that we had written and talked about and removed. But we have not lost sight of the fourth child. In a fun show like this, that could be Season 4, I don’t know. But we do have that story and that’s something we’d talked about. That was the one thing that we did not answer but we want to answer that. We will eventually deal with that, even though Jessica is not playing Constance [laughs].”

Adding to that, Lange said she’s eager to learn the fate of Tate and Vivien’s devil baby:

“I think Constance was a strong enough character that you could revisit her. I don’t know what [Ryan's] going to do about that [devil baby]. It was certainly left that we should follow up on it, right?”
