Last month, Jessica Lange said she was mulling over the possibility of returning to American Horror Story for Season 2 — now the horror’s co-creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that the actress will indeed be back.
When asked by Huffington Post whether Lange would return for Season 2, Murphy simply said “yes.” Good news for the season 2 prospects, though we already know that Lange will not reprise her role as Constance, following the decision to package the show as a kind of serialized anthology, where each season has its own continuity.
Here’s a reminder of how Murphy sees the AHS format:
“Every season of the show will be a different haunting. What you saw in the finale was the end of the Harmon house and the second season of the show will be a brand new home. Or building to haunt. It will also have a new overriding theme… and a different cast of characters. Just like this year, every season of the show will have a beginning, middle and end.”
So, season 2 will be a different scare of affairs, featuring a different set of characters. It will be interesting to see who Lange becomes in season 2. How will they top Constance?
While I’m looking forward to the next chapter, My serial DNA hopes they can find a way to connect the two seasons, perhaps through the mythology of spiritdom or visual cues of some sort? I’m not holding my breath, but we’ll see.
