- Henry’s words in Maternity Leave sparked something in Locke’s brain. He starts making his own calls without Jack’s consent, and even refers to the hatch as his own! Locke had already voiced his concern over the lack of a “long term plan” to Jack in the previous episode. He now decides to take action by bringing Ana-Lucia into the loop. Ana sees through Locke’s actions right away, but joins the game anyway as an independent player – not listening to Locke nor Jack.
- Locke mentions Jack’s “army” again. It’s something that annoyed John at the time, because it’s a decision Jack made without consulting his bald friend. He uses it against Jack, as he did in One Of Them.
Locke: ”[Ana-Lucia]’s the one you went to to start an army to fight these people — why not her? Unless you’re worried about what she’ll do to him… I already [talked to her].”
- Henry’s mind games are coming to fruition. With Ana-Lucia now added into the fold, there’s more room for conflict among the survivors. Ana lies to Jack and Locke and goes off to search for Henry’s balloon on her own. But not before telling Sayid, who tells Charlie… More on that on the next page.
- John has started a war: Jack decides to give Henry breakfast… without telling Locke!
